Plantar Fasciitis Treatment
What is plantar fasciitis?
Plantar fasciitis, one of the most frequent causes of pain in the heel, involves inflammation of dense band of tissue that runs across the bottom of the foot, connecting the heel bone to the toes (the plantar fascia).
Why do I have Plantar Fasciitis?
Usually, the plantar fascia in the foot behaves like a shock-absorbing bowstring, supporting the arch in the foot. With too much tension (stress) on the “bowstring”, small tears occur in the fascia. Repeated tearing and stretching sometimes causes the fascia to become inflamed or irritated, but often the cause is not obvious.
